About the LaundryCares Foundation
The LaundryCares Foundation was established as a charitable foundation by the Coin Laundry Association (CLA) in 2006. Since its inception, the foundation has been committed to enhancing communities through coordinated efforts with local businesses, community leaders and donors.
LaundryCares is passionate about providing vital services to underserved communities throughout the USA. Partnering with organizations in its network, this charitable foundation helps thousands of people by delivering free laundry and promoting early childhood education through Free Laundry & Literacy Day events at local laundromats.
Free Laundry & Literacy Days
LaundryCares recognizes that clean laundry is a basic necessity that is fundamental to personal hygiene and overall well-being. At the same time, this charitable foundation also strives to improve childhood literacy and development, so it uses Free Laundry & Literacy Days to fulfill these needs in underserved communities through:
- Free laundry days: During these events, the local community can bring an unlimited amount of laundry and use the machines in the laundromat to wash their clothes for free.
- Literacy resources: To address the literacy gaps in underserved communities, LaundryCares provides learning spaces during the events where children can access high-quality books and other learning resources and engage in literacy-rich activities.
The event also includes free food and drinks, as well as fun activities to foster community engagement. Local laundromat owners, distributors and community members act as volunteers and facilitate the events.
Literacy Center Kits for Laundromats
Outside of Free Laundry & Literacy Days, LaundryCares continues to enrich communities with Family Read, Play & Learn Space kits. These kits are equipped with learning materials and designed to create a fun, engaging environment for children to learn while their parents are busing doing laundry.
Laundromat owners can add these kits to their establishments, giving children access to ongoing learning opportunities while providing their usual laundry services.
Our Alliance With LaundryCares
